This course is an essential course for the students majoring in international intellectual property law. This course will cover all main topics in trademark law of a specific country or region (for example, the United States or Europe), such as introduction to trademark, subject matter of trademark, distinctiveness requirement, acquisition of trademark, loss of trademark, trademark infringement, fair use, remedies, etc.

Frederick Mostert

Past President of the International Trademark Association and an internationally recognized authority on intellectual property issues. He served as Chief Intellectual Property Counsel and Chief Legal Counsel of luxury group  Richemont. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre, University of Oxford, a Visiting Professor of University College London, and a Research Fellow at Peking University. Mostert has served on Compagnie Financiere Richemont SA’s Board, as well as the boards of Net-a-Porter, The International Trademark Association and others.[4] At present he serves on the Board of The Walpole Group,[6] the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, the Adopt a School Trust, and the Steering Committee of the Lawyers Group at Classics for All.

John Alison

Partner, Finnegan, John Alison has handled U.S. patent infringement cases for over 25 years primarily focusing in semiconductors, optoelectronics, and pharmaceuticals. He has participated in more than 100 patent, trade secret, and trademark litigations. He has served as trial counsel for global clients. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Alison served as resident managing partner of Finnegan's Taipei office, the Fei Han Foreign Legal Affairs Law Firm. Mr. Alison also served as law clerk to Chief Judge Howard T. Markey of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 1984 to 1986.

Randall R. Rader

Chief Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Randall R. Rader was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit by President George H. W. Bush in 1990 and assumed the duties of Chief Circuit Judge on June 1, 2010. As Professor, Chief Judge Rader has taught programs on patent law and other advanced intellectual property programs at universities around the world. Chief Judge Rader has also co-authored several texts including the most widely used textbook on U. S. patent law, Cases and Materials on Patent Law and Patent Law in a Nutshell. He has won acclaim for leading dozens of government and educational delegations to every continent (except Antarctica), teaching rule of law and intellectual property law principles.

Christopher S. Yoo

Christopher S. Yoo is a professor of Law, Communication, and Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and founding director of the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Competition. He is well known for his work on technology law, media law and copyright, in which field he is among the most frequently cited authors.
