Master's students should participate in more than 4 (including 4) academic activities during the period of study. Fill in the "Record of Academic Activities of Master Students", and keep it after being signed by the tutor. Submit it to the Academic Affairs Office for record before applying for defense.
Requirements
(1) Thesis Proposal
Master students should determine the specific topic and complete the thesis proposal under the guidance of the supervisor, after in-depth investigation and research. The content of the thesis proposal includes the literature review related to the selected topic, the significance of the topic, the work plan and time arrangement for the completion of the paper, the basic content of the paper, the expectation of your thesis, the existing problems, etc. (no less than 5000 words), and should be accompanied by the list of reference materials of the topic.
An oral presentation is required in English. According to the Regulations of Tsinghua University on the Training of postgraduate students studying for Master's Degree, the proposal assessment team is generally composed of at least 3 associate professors or experts with equivalent titles or above. Those who fail to pass the topic selection report for three times will fail and be required to drop out.
(2) Mid-term examination
According to the paper work plan, the tutor group of the subject should conduct a mid-term examination in the middle of the paper work, mainly checking the progress and basic content of the paper writing.
Those who fail to pass the proposal report or Midterm examination cannot apply for thesis defense.
